Kara Bernhardt, BS
At three years old, Kara told her family that she was going to be a teacher when she grew up. Her path never changed, and she graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Sciences with a focus on Childhood Development. She was involved with many programs that included different aged children, and through these she found her passion in Early Childhood Education. She found the youngest minds to be most interesting.
Kara’s favorite quality of this age is how inquisitive and creative they are. She most enjoys listening to the stories her students tell and hearing what they can come up with when they are asked a question. She believes that by creating a safe, fun, meaningful classroom experience when they are young, children will grow a genuine love for knowledge. She loves being a part of the foundation for a child’s success in school.
A native Bend resident, Kara currently lives on a farm and loves to share her knowledge of the land and animals with her students. Together with her husband, they have a very large family whom she loves to spend time with. Any extra time is spent outdoors swimming at the lake or camping in the woods.
