Kara Bernhardt, BS

Teacher

At three years old, Kara told her family that she was going to be a teacher when she grew up. Her path never changed, and she graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Sciences with a focus on Childhood Development. She was involved with many programs that included different aged children, and through these she discovered her passion in Early Childhood Education. She found the youngest minds to be most interesting.

Her favorite quality of this age is how inquisitive and creative they are. Kara most enjoys listening to the stories her students tell and hearing what they can come up with when they are asked a question. She believes that by creating a safe, fun, meaningful classroom experience when they are young, children will grow a genuine love for knowledge. She loves being a part of the foundation for a child’s success in school and life!

A native Bend resident, Kara and her husband, Taylor, bought their first home on an acre of land where they live with their sweet baby boy, Asher. Her other passions include the outdoors, animals and children’s books which is apparent in her lessons and teaching style. When she’s not teaching or shopping for new books, she enjoys taking trips to the Oregon coast, spending time with her family and pets, working on home improvement projects, and being outside swimming, boating, camping, farming, gardening and playing.
